Located in Madison, Wisconsin, the VMTH opened in 1983 and is part of the University's School of Veterinary Medicine. As such, part of the hospital's mission is to train the next generation of veterinarians. In addition, veterinary school researchers are constantly improving the ways we diagnose and treat animal health problems.

Veterinarians from Wisconsin and surrounding states refer cases to the VMTH for:

• Consultation with board certified specialists that can diagnose and treat even the most complicated problems
• Access to state-of-the-art equipment that enhances our ability to serve clients (MRI, CT, Radiation therapy, Nuclear medicine, and much more)
• Cutting-edge medical and surgical treatments and procedures that are not available in general practice
