Botulism
Botulism is a serious illness caused by the toxin of a bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. This bacterium is commonly found in soil but is sometimes found in infected wounds and in food, especially home-canned foods that did not seal properly. Botulism can cause paralysis and respiratory problems.
