The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine’s ophthalmology section is seeking dogs to participate in a clinical trial for a promising new therapeutic agent for the treatment of keratoconjunctivitis sicca in dogs.
Dogs of any breed or sex that are newly diagnosed, untreated, and over 1 year of age can be enrolled in a treatment trial beginning at the end of February 2007. Owners will receive free ophthalmology examinations for the 3-month duration of the trial, as well as free trial drug during that time period. Owners will also receive free cyclosporine for 12 months after their pets complete the trial. This is approximately a $460 value for the owners in drug alone, in addition to the free examinations for the first three months. Owners will be required to bring their dogs in for monthly rechecks at the VMTH.
