Answer:
Because not all side effects of a drug can be detected in every species before the drug is released to the market. Also, when adverse drug reactions are reported a company can track these reactions, and if necessary they can take the steps needed to educate prescribers and consumers about newly discovered side effects of these drugs. Overall, if everyone does their part in reporting adverse drug reactions, it can help make medications safer for all patients.
